Healing Communities

One in 78 adults in America is involved in our criminal justice system on any given day! We can help within our very own community, so The River has chosen to become a “Station of Hope” for the Healing Communities initiative. We began already by sending an initial River team to receive special training from Healing Communities.

When a church congregation becomes a Station of Hope, they become a place where the stigma and shame of the crime are eased. The congregation offers a place of love, forgiveness, redemption, and reconciliation.

The Healing Communities initiative is a resource for families who are impacted by incarcerated family members. The initiative helps them build relationships of healing, redemption, and reconciliation. The vision of Healing Communities is that Christians and their churches will reach out and support individuals and families in their own congregations that are affected by the criminal justice system. These individuals and families affected include those victimized by crime, those arrested, those in jail or prison, those reintegrating, and the family members of each.

If you or a loved one have been impacted by our criminal justice system and are seeking support or have questions, please reach out to the Station of Hope Leadership Team. If you are a River congregation member and would like to become involved with the team, please reach out as well.

Stations of Hope Leadership Team: Ministry Leader – Jillane Holland, Kim Smith, Joe Ethier, Jody Vash, Christy Bucher, Phil Wolf, or Amanda Havlin.
